We shall briefly explain the notion and basic properties of a pseudo-holomorphic curves and show how these curves can be used to study symplectomorphisms and holomorphic mappings. We shall focus on: positivity of local intersections of curves, compactness theorem, dimension of the moduli space. Then we shall prove Gromov's rigidity (non-squeezing) theorem and also rationality of certain meromorphic functions.
