Fundamental group = Topological space?

Usually we think the fundamental group of a space has less information than that of the space itself. In this talk I'll explain why the fundamental groups of the Menger sponge, the Sierpinski carpet and other one-dimensional wild spaces have the same information as that of the spaces themselves. I'll concentrate to demonstrate how the idea of the proofs of the group theoretic theorems in early 1950's, i.e. the Specker theorem and the Higman theorem, work here.
