Hyperbolic Conservation Laws are partial differential equations typically describing the evolution of densities. The present talk aims at presenting some aspects of their recent development. As usual, the starting point are the well posedness and stability results. Then, simple examples allow to describe some of their key properties, such as the rise of singularities. A prominent role in this progress is played by the many applications and a few of them will be considered, such as those to vehicular traffic or to crowd dynamics.
